When I started training for my first half marathon, my protein levels were very low, and I couldn’t eat gluten or wheat.
At the time, I had a small team of individuals supporting me through both the race training and the food changes. And, I needed a lot of options to increase my protein.
Yogurt was a no-brainer option for breakfast. While Greek yogurt, is very high in protein, I was unable to digest greek yogurt.
So, what was I to do?
I randomly came across sheep’s milk yogurt in Whole Foods. I was very skeptical, but I had already started eating sheep’s milk cheese. And, sheep’s milk has the highest content of milk solids which means it contains more fat and protein.
So, I gave it a whirl. And, it’s my number one choice for smoothies and bowls.
This strawberry banana smoothie is made with sheep’s milk yogurt, provides about 22 grams of protein, is low-fat and low calorie. And, the strawberry banana smoothie for four will feed your entire family for breakfast or dessert.
I also add my favorite vegan protein mix, which adds additional protein.

This strawberry banana smoothie for four is gluten-free, dairy-free, thin, creamy, and ice cold. Perfect for warm sunny days and dessert.
Strawberry Banana Smoothie Ingredients
2 cups crushed ice or 16 ice cubes
1 frozen banana
2 cups frozen strawberries
2 cups plain yogurt, (recommend plain sheep’s milk yogurt)
2– 4 Tablespoons Arbonne Vanilla Protein Shake Mix, (or another protein mix), (OPTIONAL)
1.5 cups cold strawberry lemonade
1.5 cups cold apple juice
How To Make A Strawberry Banana Smoothie
Blend ingredients in the following order: ice, frozen sliced banana, frozen strawberries, yogurt, protein mix (optional), cold lemonade and cold apple juice, on low, until creamy and smooth, about two minutes.
Kitchen Tools – Blender or Vitamix
To reduce the foam, I recommend blending the smoothie on low (speed 1-3 on Vitamix), for a more extended period. If needed, after 1-2 minutes, you can stir the smoothie in the blender, and then continue blending.
If you want a thinner smoothie, blend the smoothie on a higher speed for 2-3 minutes.
I used a dry measuring cup to measure the crushed ice, strawberries, and yogurt. I used a liquid measuring cup to measure the apple juice and strawberry lemonade.
I peel and slice the banana before freezing, and I freeze the banana at least 24 hours ahead of time. Slicing the banana helps to ensure the smoothie blends efficiently.
