Ketchup – one of the most popular condiments in America. Resisting a swirl of ketchup on your dog is hard.

If you are sensitive to gluten, you should pay attention to the following:

Was the ketchup bottle tested for gluten?

Was the ketchup made on shared equipment or in a shared facility?

What is the source of the vinegar? In other words, is the vinegar derived from wheat, corn, or fruit?

What are the ingredients? In other words, are the ingredients naturally gluten-free?

And, we will discuss is Heinz ketchup gluten free? It’s not only the most popular ketchup in America but its the most asked about brand on social media.

Schlotterbeck & Foss – Country Ketchup

The country ketchup is labeled naturally gluten-free. The ingredients include tomato puree, cane sugar, red bell peppers, onions, distilled vinegar, garlic, sea salt, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), spices, and natural Vitamin E.

The representative explained that if the bottle is NGP verified, the distilled vinegar is derived from cane and non-GMO corn, and not from wheat.

Before March 2018, the source of the distilled vinegar is unknown.

Have you ever tried ketchup from Schlotterbeck & Foss?

Molonay Tubilderborst

Sir Kensington’s

Sir Kensington states the following about their products:

Yes, all of our condiments are Gluten Free. Our facilities have processes in place to prevent cross-contamination of products. All of our condiments undergo routine gluten testing and are tested at under 10 ppm.

The website reports Tessemae’s Organic Ketchup is whole 30 compliant, keto friendly, gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, and made with no added sugar.

It’s made with Organic Tomato Paste (Organic Tomatoes, Salt), Organic Date Puree (Organic Dates, Water, Organic Lemon Juice), Organic Apple Cider Vinegar, Water, Sea Salt, Organic Lemon Juice, Organic Onion Powder, Organic Garlic Powder.

McCormick Frenchs Tomato Ketchup

They report their ketchup is gluten-free (testing to less than 20 parts per million), however, the vinegar they use can be distilled from wheat. While it’s made without corn syrup, artificial colors and flavors, I would not recommend Frenchs Tomato Ketchup.

According to the company, their ketchup does not contain added gluten, however, they do not test for gluten. They also use vinegar distilled that can be derived from gluten-containing grains. I would not recommend Hunt’s ketchup.

Del Monte

You will find the following statement on the FAQ page:

Del Monte: According to their website, the following products do not contain wheat, oats, rye or barley/malt ingredients.

And, ketchup is not listed on the gluten-free product page. I would not recommend Del Monte Ketchup.

Is Heinz Ketchup Gluten Free?

Heinz is considered gluten-free to 20 ppm. A representative reported the vinegar is made from corn and not wheat.

Heinz offers several types of ketchup. You can view the website for a list of ingredients.

My favorite gluten-free ketchup is Organicville. It’s certified gluten-free and vegan.

If a friend asks you, is ketchup gluten free, you’ll know that it depends on several factors and your level of sensitivity to gluten.
