Is Gnocchi Gluten-Free?

Pronounced nyohk-kee or noh-kee, gnocchi are little dumplings typically made from potatoes.

Since potatoes are gluten-free, it’s easy to assume that gnocchi is gluten-free.

Most store-bought brands offer certified gluten-free gnocchi or gluten-free gnocchi that is prepared in a separate area.

However, I have found some gnocchi products with wheat flour or dusted with wheat flour.

Therefore, most store-bought brands are gluten-free but not always.

If you are having difficulties finding certified gluten-free gnocchi, it’s easy to prepare homemade gluten-free gnocchi.

This guide include a list of the TASTIEST certified gluten free gnocchi products including Isola, Little Pasta Organics, and Capello's.

Always read the labels and ingredients before buying a product.

If you are highly sensitive to gluten, I recommend buying a product made in a dedicated gluten-free facility or labeled certified gluten-free.

The Best Gluten Free Gnocchi Recipe

Crispy Gnocchi With Mushrooms

I enjoy making the crispy gnocchi with roasted mushrooms recipe from Bianca Zapatka.

She provides a homemade recipe for gluten-free gnocchi.

However, to make the recipe in under 30 minutes, I boil Capello’s gluten-free gnocchi for 90 seconds in lieu of making homemade gluten-free gnocchi.

I use three cloves of garlic, omit the onion, and pair the recipe with a side of garlic basil-parsley pesto.

Please feel free to contact me about this recipe. You can find the recipe by clicking the link above.

The BEST Certified Gluten Free Gnocchi Product

Gnocchi Vegetable Stir Fry By Bianca Zapatka

I use Capello’s certified gluten-free pasta to make Bianca’s fried gnocchi recipes. It’s both gluten and grain-free. I typically buy it at Whole Foods or Amazon.

She offers simple easy to follow recipes with the option to use store-bought gluten-free gnocchi or homemade gluten-free gnocchi.

I made the gnocchi vegetable stir fry by omitting the onion, using four cloves of garlic, 3 Tablespoons olive oil (divided), 1.5 Tablespoons gluten-free tamari soy sauce, dried onion, dried parsley, and dried oregano. And, I omitted the salt and pepper.

This delicious recipe can be on the table in under 30 minutes.
