Traveling can be a highlight of someone’s year and is often at the top of someone’s bucket list. But, let’s face it – with food allergies, it takes a lot of research, to find quality allergy-friendly foods in the airport. And, if you have a quick connection – forget about eating. So, I compiled a list of my favorite allergy friendly products that you can enjoy on long plane rides. I have dozens of favorite plane food snacks. But, here are five ideas for your next trip.
Enjoy Life ® soft baked minis are moist, chewy, full of chocolate, and of course gluten-free. And, they are low in calories, fat, carbohydrates, and sugar which is perfect for long plane rides when you aren’t exerting a lot of energy. So, if you splurge and eat a few bags or a whole box, well – let’s just say Enjoy your Life. You can read more about soft baked minis here.
I have a hard time finding high-protein gluten-free options for any type of day that life brings me, especially on long plane rides. High protein options are rare on long plane rides unless you fly first class. So, I turn to one of my favorite gluten-free bars – PROBAR ® BASE. What else can I say – They are the BASE of my day. You can read more about PROBAR ® BASE here.
I’m always looking for dairy free options that provide me the nutrients I need for long plane rides. One serving of Organic Dark Chocolate Chewy Banana Bites is almost proportional to the potassium in one medium-sized banana. Day after day, eating another banana gets boring. So, when I need a change, I turn to my favorite chewy banana bites. And, Barbana offers three varieties of dairy-free chewy banana bites. You can read more about Chewy Banana Bites here.
Eating plain nuts from airlines can get “stale” (haha), but they are also an excellent way to get unsaturated fats – both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, fiber, and Omega 3- fatty acids. And, Sahale Snacks ® grab and go’s come in 12 flavors which keeps my interest for a long plane ride. If you give them a try, let me know. You can read more about Sahale Snacks ® grab and go’s here.
I love crunchy snacks! A single serving is 14% of your dietary fiber which makes harvest snaps a great side to your other snacks and meals on the plane. All four flavors are low in calories, sodium, and carbohydrates which is great for low energy days when you’re sitting on your bum. Dried peas are an excellent source of B-vitamins and protein. You can read more about harvest snaps here.
