Who wants to talk about makeup?
I have my lip gloss on, and I’m ready.
I get asked a lot about the need for gluten-free makeup. After thorough research and a few shopping trips (yes!), I would rather be safe then in a lot of pain.
It would be challenging to argue that the products can be absorbed through the skin causing reactions and symptoms. But, they can be ingested in a small amount which can cause some patients symptoms.
The most common way of ingesting gluten-containing ingredients would be applying makeup and forgetting to wash your hands and transferring the product to your food. And, often when we remove our makeup it smears towards the bottom of our face and passes our mouth and into the sink. Or, you use a cloth to remove your makeup which you may wipe near your mouth.
It’s possible that many of your favorite makeup products are gluten-free. But, if you want some fresh ideas, I found two product lines that appear safe for people with gluten sensitivity. And, whats even more impressive? You can buy them at Sephora.
The Allergy Stuff:
BITE reported that all their products are gluten-free. I was shocked! I couldn’t believe my eyes. But, BITE is one of the newest most popular brands in Sephora. And, everyone is raving about them. If you don’t believe me, just check out their Instagram account. I’m currently carrying Amuse Bouche Liquified lipstick (shown in photo) in my purse. It has a glossy feel, medium shine, and rich color. I’m going to try the lip balm and lip scrub next. Something tells’s me it’s going to taste like vanilla cake.
Too Faced reported that everything is gluten-free except borderline lip pencil. And, of course, they warned me about the possibility of cross-contamination. Before my food sensitivities, I was wearing a lot of Too Faced products. I was relieved that I didn’t need to throw everything away in my makeup bag. I’m currently wearing melted latex liquified high shine lipstick in color I’m Bossy. I read the color name and knew it was my color. Sold!
If you try these products, I would love to know about it. You can leave a comment or tag a photo #glutenfreeanytimeanywhere on Instagram.
