On a similar topic, I needed to find an alternative for the boyfriends daily run to Starbucks. I love Starbucks too, but we need to reduce our sugar intake. And since I love him so, I developed this recipe for hot days when you want a chai drink that’s cold.

Ice Ice Baby –


A chai almond milk smoothie for a low-calorie and low carb breakfast.

The ingredients for an easy chai almond milk smoothie

Grab a high powered blender and these ingredients and let’s jam.

Almond Milk

Almond milk helps this smoothie be creamy, hydrating, and high in protein. I never tried this recipe with chocolate milk, but let me know if you try that alternative.

Almond Butter

Almond butter provides this smoothie with healthy fats, protein, and balanced nutrition.

Frozen Banana

You need frozen fruit to make this smoothie cold. Just peel and slice bananas and then freeze the bananas in a freezer safe container.  Take the extra time to slice each banana. You don’t want the banana to break the blender. And, you want the smoothie to blend smoothly.

Arbonne Chai Protein Shake Mix

I love the new Chai protein from Arbonne.

The shake mix provides 20 grams of vegan plant-based protein. It has a low glycemic index and does not cause any changes in blood sugar. And, it’s the perfect ingredient to bring this chai smoothie together.

I love my Vitamix. It was a surprise present two years ago, and we have been in love ever since. It’s high powered and can take on anything that I ask it to blend.

My Vitamix was purchased from Williams Sonoma. But, I have found that Amazon provides more choices and better prices.

How to make a creamy chai almond milk smoothie

I prefer to chill a cold glass in the fridge a few hours ahead of time, so I can pour this cold smoothie into a chilled glass.

Grab your blender and the ingredients.

Place ingredients in the blender in the following order: ice, frozen banana, protein powder, almond butter, chia seeds, and almond milk. Blend all ingredients in a blender on high, until creamy and smooth, about 1 minute.

It’s that easy!

This chai almond milk smoothie is gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, low calorie, low fat, low carb, high in protein, thick, cold, and creamy. It’s a mouthful but just what you’re looking for- am I right?

Chai Almond Milk Smoothie

1 cup crushed ice

Frozen Banana

4 Tablespoons Arbonne Chai Protein Shake Mix, (or another protein mix)

Tablespoon almond butter

Tablespoon chia seeds

1 ½ cups unsweetened, unflavored almond milk


Place ingredients in the blender in the following order: ice, frozen banana, protein powder, almond butter, chia seeds, and almond milk. Blend all ingredients in a blender on high, until creamy and smooth, about 1 minute.


Kitchen Tools – Blender or Vitamix

Notes – I prefer to use crushed ice and a frozen banana which yields a colder smoothie. I peel and slice the banana before freezing, and I freeze the bananas at least 24 hours ahead of time. Slicing the banana helps to ensure the smoothie blends easily.
